Truckman, is that why you do so many??? I kid, I kid....
I've put some good miles on the 22re,and no leaks have developed for me yet.
As an aside, liquid ammonia works great for removing RTV.

A good clean surface doesn't need any sealer, just a gasket, just like from factory. I use scotchbrite too but do it by hand. Seen too many where the surface is no longer flat from using tools like die grinders. Did the last one in a parking lot in the middle of a road trip a couple months ago.

So many methods from so many people to do the same job, how about a high quality paper gasket with an inprented rubber seal around it like the felpro intake gasket I got from Auto Zone, the water pump goes all the way around. and a rubber seals works for oil pump and thermostat, but a gasket like that and getting it to seal right on the rear crank oil seal housing might be a pain since it makes an abrupt end by the oil pan might take alot of FIPG to seal that area by oil pan, but anything with a non stop all the way around should have that type of seal...
