Muffler/Exhaust options close to stock for 3.0 v6 95 4Runner
Hey Everyone.
First of all, thank you to all of you who give input. Without you, we wouldn't have such an awesome forum full of great knowledge and advice. You all helped me rebuild the top end of my 3vze 3L, and I couldn't have done it without this forum.
I need a new muffler because my old one rusted out. I'm about to buy a stock style OEM type from summit, which is a Walker:

The reason to get this one is it's a direct fit, its cheap, and its easy to install.
I don't want to necessarily put a stock one in since I can get a little better performance from a good quality aftermarket muffler. I don't prefer a loud muffler, but would like to increase the performance. Which muffler should I buy??! I have spent a lot of time searching this forum and other places, and most upgrades mean a louder sound. What do you guys suggest I get? Looking to spend around $100

Don't get stuck on Walker Mufflers for a cheap bolt on.
According to my local muffler shop that I have been going to since the 70's, the owner, that I have known for decades, said he won't carry Walker mufflers any more. He said the metal they are using just crumbles away, and he was getting stuck doing jobs over because their standard mufflers are junk now.
He uses AP Exhaust for everything now.
