Emissions Failure at Idle

I've got an '86 Turbo 4x4 that passed emissions once, but has failed most recently, too many hydrocarbons at idle.

To get it to pass, here is what I'm looking to do:

Clean the MAF
Check/replace plugs
Replace O2 sensor
Replace PCV valve(broken)
Fix cracks in intake rubber
Replace fuel filter.

What else should I look to fix before I take it back in for re-testing?

Thanks

Fergie

PS-Seafoam treatment was done a week before the emissions test failure.

Clean/replace your air filter as well and you should pass with flying colors. If you don't pass after replacing/fixing all of the components you listed, there are a few tricks you can do to lean out your engine, but it really shouldn't come to that.

Hope not.

I'll get going on this stuff this week, and hoepfully it wokrs.

I was only over by a small amount, less than 20, so it should be too hard to get the vehicle back in to compliance.

A caution to all the Seafoamers too:

DO NOT GO TO EMISSIONS UNLESS YOU CHANGE YOUR PLUGS AND O2 SENSOR AFTER A SEAFOAM TREATMENT.

When you do change your plugs and sensor out, save them, and use them for seafoam treatments. The extra time onvolved will offset new plugs and a new sensor.

The intake tube for the RTE is $40 and only available through Toyota. Use black RTV to seal any cracks you have, and you will be fine.

Also, when changing your fuel filter, take the tire off, and remove the access panel, and the entire process is cake.
