Alright guys thanks for all the info.

I didn't even think about checking out Marlin, I just figured the name of this board is "YotaTech" so I thought I would ask here.

Thanks for clearing this up though, very informative.

The reason Marlin helps in this case is his website outlines everything about tcases, in one specific section. Plus it has them there fancy pik-a-tures

Thanks Cougar! Used the search function and have just about all the answers I need.

I found a gear driven transfer case in the dump. A swap is in my future.

Question, is this swap worth doing or am I just playing with my rig for the hell of it and flushing cash down the toilet?

I have a 92 4Runner V6. So I need a 23 spline input conversion adn the adapter plate.

Anything else in this job?

Well, unfortunately, the answer to your question requires asking you one(or more).

1. Do you plan on leaving the gear drive t-case as it is(assuming it's still stock)?

2. Or would you like the option of adding lower than stock low range gears to it(stock 2.28:1 vs. 4.7:1 "crawler" gears)?

3. Or the option of adding another(one or more) t-case to achieve lower than stock low range gearing?

If your answer to #1 is yes, then you're wasting your time/money. Because the stock low range gearing in the V6/chain drive t-case is lower than a stock gear drive t-case @ 2.57:1. And there's no really good reason for choosing to run a gear drive case if you don't want/need the option of lower than stock low range gears.

So...

If you answered yes to either(or both) of the other questions, then you'll need the gear drive t-case to accomplish those things.

Simple enough?

Option two would be nice. IT would be awesome to not have to touch the brakes as I drop over ledges etc. I also don't seem to use 4 and 5th even less. I would like to have the full range and the ability to go slower. Especially with IFS, I figure slower would be great to take it easy on components.

If I need to go faster, I still have 4High.

Yes, very simple. Thank you for your advice.

Now I jsut need to figure out priorities. I think that Blazeland LT kit will be first, then this project. I could rebuild my tranny while I'm at it and have a completly refreshed driveline.
