I want to upgrade my dlx to have cruise control, but I don't know quite how or all the parts that I need. So far I have foudn the following:
-cruise control speed control (green little box thing)
-I believe a "cruise control actuator" is what it's listed as
- and the switch for in the dash

is this all the mechanical parst, and if so how would I install? Also, would I need a full SR5 wiring harness or could I tap in somewhere else? (there are no wires in the part where the switch goes in my dash, jsut an empty hole.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Personaly, I'd go with an aftermarket system. I have cruise control and it's operated by vaccum. It's not the best, it won't stay at a constant speed (got pulled over for it).

I went and put an Audiovox CCS100 system in.

Sorry about no pictures, but when we moved in Dec, Qwest had a hard time understanding that when we changed phone numbers that is all we wanted to change. They deleted my entire web world. Some of it wasn't saved and this is some of it.

It works very well for us. The truck will hold up to about 70-75 in 5th Gear. It will easliy hold 60 in 4th gear and a trailer.

You would be best off with an aftermarket system. My first and constant bitch with toyota is that they built a cruise control system that doesn't even use HALF of the available throttle, thus causing it to constantly kick out when it got ~10MPH below what you had set. The cruise is the only factory option that doesn't currently work on my '89, and it pisses me off to no end, but even with all the parts already in place, I won't use the factory system if I decide I need cruise again.

But if you are set on factory, you will need the steering column stalk, brake & clutch disengage switches, and yes, an SR5 wiring harness. The vacuum actuator you need for under the hood is the most unreliable of all the factory parts. I've gone through about 5 of them in the 20 years of owning 4Runners, all because a pin hole leak in the rubber gasket will render your entire system inoperable. Good luck finding one that works these days (and someone who wants to part with it). I don't know of a way of testing them before you buy, so you take a chance with each junk yard or private sale.

my setup doesn't seem to be factory, but looks old and seems to have original pieces intact. Anyone seen this before?
87 4Runner DLXNot sure how to connect to throttle and I don't see a connection to gas pedal. Right now this set up is just laying in my engine bay loose. I would at least get it connected correctly so I can troubleshoot. Anybody got any ideas? TIA
