1989 Pickup Heater Core Connector Pipe help
I am replacing the heater core on an 89 regular cab 4x4 DLX truck. I ordered what I thought was the correct connector pipe (hard pipe that fits into the heater core and runs to the bulkhead, see pic). Toyodiy says its not an applicable part, so I went off of what the toyota dealer said which looked right in the picture but.... The pipe I got (87156-35010) was too short and not bent correctly. Does anyone know the correct part number or aftermarket replacement? Thanks for the help.

What's wrong with the old pipe? If the old pipe is still good, all you need is a new o-ring, and maybe a new snap ring especially if you did not use snap ring pliers to remove it.
According to the diagram posted, I circled the o-ring.

Snippit, the old pipes were shredded at the ends coming through the firewall when I got the truck. The heater core was bypassed. I am thinking about cutting the end off and running a shaped heater hose further inside and connecting it there.

Oh snap! Dang it man. It got butchered.
Yes you could cut it off flush, and then use some emery cloth to smooth the edges. If you do it that way, make sure to use some sealer on the pipe, and use a top quality hose clamp.
I don't know why the aftermarket cores do not come with both pipes. It's either a new pipe or junkyard pipe to fix it the way it is supposed to be.

Also, from what I've read, removing those pipes is a very tricky operation. Frequently, they're very difficult to get out in one piece, or at least not damaged. From what I've read, new is the way to go.
Have fun!

Unfortunately no one makes a new one. I have tried to contact some radiator shops but no one is willing to fab one. I jerry rigged what I had left but it does not make a tight enough seal with the toyota clip and oring at the heater core connection point. Next is to try and braze it or jbweld

I am in the same boat, mine is crushed and may be repairable but i risk cracking the pipe at random points. I am going to look into what it would take to have one fabbed out of stainless or Aluminized steel, to be clear i would likely be bending and fabbing it myself. But i have had no luck getting toyota to locate why the partnumber was revised to the shorter pipe and different heater core case... mine is in a 95 regular cab that was assembled in Japan...

I am going to try and make a new pipe. I picked up a 4 ft piece of 5/8” aluminum tubing from napa today for $16. To bend it I need sand, well of course its rained here in the desert for the last week so I decided to use cat litter, well don’t its not firm enough to prevent kinking. I’ll throw up a picture of what I put together once I get some sand and bend it tomorrow.
