Just bought my first 4runner -85- -pics-
Bought it last night for $2000.
Rebuilt engine 20,000 miles ago. The electric window even works in the back.
The guy I bought it from got it a month ago to turn it into a wheeler, but now he is split from him wife and just wanted to get rid of it. He had a whole binder full of receipts from the previous owner.
He didnt even know the engine was rebuilt. I just found that receipt while going through the file when I got home. The rebuild cost the owner (in Dec. 2003) $3584-.
You guys think I got a good deal? I hope so...

Hoping to hack off some more of the 85 soon and get some "real" paint on it.
Nice looking 85 and for $2K w/ a brand new rebuilt engine...that is a GREAT deal! It'll run forever if you take care of it.

Im from Cameron Park, CA which is in the Nor-Cal foothills between Sacramento and Tahoe. The truck is rust free (California) and the frame is straight.
I already got started on cleaning it up today, I got a few of the minor annoyances out of the way- got it smogged (YES!), fixed the blinkers, fixed the squeeky rear window, fixed the Cig Lighter, painted the hood white to match the body.
My future plans are (in order): install a stereo and speakers, Herculine the interior, rock sliders, All Pro front rear leaf spring lift, 33" tires, wench, paint the rig flat black.

You got a great deal. I know just how you feel, I just bought an 1985 4Runner in December and the mods have already begun... I had a 1989 SR5 V-6 4Runner for nine years. After a lot of mods & building I wanted to find an '85. I finally found a 1985 with a solid front axle, so I sold the '89 & bought the '85. I have plans to make this one a serious trail rig, with the ability to still be street drivable. Have fun with your new rig & happy wheelin'
