I have an SR5 85 pickup with the clutch start cancel button in the dash, Doesn't do anything thought since I can start in gear without the button pressed. Don,t know if it was just disabled, or if the dash came from anouther truck.

the 85 does not have a clutch switch but it does have a switch in that location for the bed light. to disable the clutch starter, just reach down and un plug it from the clutch pedal. I have already done that to my 06 too. first day I had it, clutch pedal and that beeper, disabled.

I am going to go out back tomorrow morning and check on the two 85 parts trucks, but my 84 SR5 4runner does not have a switch now. However, this is the truck that I bought back after selling it, and I could swear that it had one when I first owned it because I think I remember using it once. However, if it did, the owner after me, bypassed it and I can start it without depressing the clutch...and that has come in hand too many times too remember now.
I checked my 84 owner's manual, and there is not a mention of it in there. I looked at the factory brochure for 85 and I couldn't see one in there either.
If it stops raining, I will check the parts trucks in the morning.

I have an 1985 SR5 4x4 with sunroof and inclinometer and it does not have a clutch cancel switch, the truck has a bed light like the previous poster mentioned. I can start my truck without pushing in the clutch.

I checked the two 85's in my backyard and neither one has the switch. The truck is an SR5 with all power, sunroof, sport seats..even rear defrost? No switch. The 4runner is a base model, and it doesn't have one either.

Two questions here:
84 ext cab 22R 5 spd - sunroof
It is pretty stock but in the spot where this switch should be is a duplicate switch of the dome lamp and it does nothing. It has wiring attached so before I tear the dash apart tracing wires I want to confirm this option is supposed to be there.
Does this truck have the safety switch wiring and sipposed to have this feature.? (unless removed by a PO which I doubt)
85 ext cab 22RE 5 spd originally an automatic
This truck was an auto and I want to add the clutch cancel switch and I have looked for a wiring diagram and/or write-up of someone doing this and just cannot seem to find one.
The 84 I am working on as a dd and the 85 as a trail rig with ammenities so I would like both cab interiors as stock and nice as possible. Bumping the starter to bump the truck can be helpful and just to simply crank without pushing in the clutch if I want, so I want it to work on both trucks.
Thanks.

how did you bypass it? I just put motor and tranny from a manual to an auto body. Everything is hooked up but it won't start. I assume it has something to do with no wiring to the clutch button to tell the starter to enguage.

I have seen a thread on here somewhere that you have to fool the computer into thinking it is always in neutral. Seems like it was a ground wire or something like that. It is an old thread but it had some good info on what you are doing.
