How do I get rid of Vacuum lines? 79 20R
The reason I ask is Ive seen a few threads on emissions desmog. I can't find one for my 79 2wd 20R. Is there one anywhere with complete details for how to do it. I have stock carb. Are there any pros and cons to emissions delete?

If you are truly going to desmog your truck, save yourself some time and headache by getting a Weber Carb. It'll be the best $280 you'll ever spend on your truck and it'll make desmogging easy!
Here's what I would do:
-Get yourself a Weber 32/36 Carb and install it.
-Make some block of plates or buy some here:

http://www.lceperformance.com/EGR-Bl...-p/1016038.htm
-Rip out every 3/16" vacuum hose you can find and all those pesky hard lines between the card and valve cover
-Rip out everything that has a 3/16" vacuum hose attached to it. IE: EGR valve, air injection manifold, pair/reed valve, VSC valve, smog pump, etc.
-Install block off plates
-Run your vacuum advance from your distributor to the carb (and if you have two vacuum ports on your distributor, run the one closest to the motor to an intake manifold vacuum port)
-Cap off any ports that aren't connected
-Voila! You're desmogged!
Here's how mine looked before I started my rebuild:
Ran great, about 21MPG as opposed to the 12MPG that I was getting with all the smog crap.
Here is a thread on desmogging a 22R. Pretty good instructions.

A Webber will clear up alot of the vacuum lines. Think you will be surprised if that is what you are after. I seen a thread on here some where about desmogging a 22r and he did a great job on his write up, just wasnt able find it right off. The Toyota carb is a great little carburator as well. Another reason some like the Webber is apparently on certain angles the factory carb can starve for fuel if I understand right.

How do we get Kawa's thread to be a sticky? Until then, just type in the search word "desmog" and his thread will be the first result. That's what I've been doing. According to LWC and Summit my parts should be arriving today. :-)
Somebody partially desmogged my 22R before I bought the truck, so I'm trying to finish and clean up the job.
Kawa, is it OK to post questions in your thread? Then if it's stickied, hopefully most of the question posts can be removed and only your answers will be left?

I don't care if people post in that thread. I was just telling people to hold off on posting questions or comments until I was finished with the write up since it was going to take several posts. I didn't want to get the tutorial cluttered with a bunch of questions and comments so that people could easily read through it and figure out what they needed to do. This forum is a resource tool and I don't mind helping people out whenever I can.

I saw the desmog on the 22r that you did but is there anything diffrent about the 20r that I need to worry about I know the intake has round holes but are all the vacuum valves the same thing?? I had a webber on the truck but couldnt get it set right, with the info on here Im a little more confident then I was when I was 17 trying to get the truck running correctly. I stripped the block down last night then my wife went into labor so Its might be awhile till I get the engine up to my cousin in eastern KY to get rebuilt and desmogged. OH PS I GOT SOME GREAT PICTURES OF A CLOGGED EGR compleatly sealed off!!
