hey so the picture pretty much says it all. this belt is not lined up! its on 1982 Toyota pickup dlx 22r. it runs and drives fine however I cant over how off it is. have any of you seen this problem? could it be motor mounts? the belt is barley worn an turns fine but I would really hate for it to brake! let me know

You're missing a piece. On the main crankshaft pulley, the rearmost groove runs the waterpump and alternator. The front one (what your PS belt currently runs on) is supposed to run the AC and/or smog pump. Trucks with power steering had yet a third pulley for the PS that bolts onto the front of the main one with four bolts. That's what you're missing.

I have heard rumors that not all main pulleys had the holes to mount the PS one. Stick a mirror down there and see if you do, before sourcing one somewhere.

Yeah my 78 doesn't have power steering, but has a third groove on the pulley for the power steering belt.

My 83 did not. What I remember hearing, back when I was going to put power steering on my 83, was that I'd need to find a pulley from a 79-83 truck which had power steering, because it would have the 3 grooves.

So somebody put power steering on your truck without swapping pulleys. People do it that way...but as I'm sure you can see, it'll tear through belts faster than it should.

Not sure of a way to add one. These are the pulleys held in by the front crank bolt. They're all one unit, either with two grooves or three.

There may well be some aftermarket way of just adding another on to what's already there, but I don't know of it.

Junkyard or classifieds around here or on the Marlin Crawler forum would probably be your best bet.

Negative. Both my 20R and my parts truck's 22R has the rear two pulleys cast as one piece, bolted to the crank via the jesus bolt, and the front one bolts to the main one with four small bolts. Plug and play.

(For full disclosure, it should be mentioned that my 20R is a mystery engine that may have had a 22R main pulley installed. According to this writeup, 20R pulleys did not have the holes for the PS pulley)

Ah, ok. I just had mine apart, and while I'll admit I wasn't looking too closely at it, I think it was all one piece, all three pulleys. I don't think the third bolted on. Maybe I'll take a look today. But mine's a 78.

I have had 3 22r's and 1 22re, all had a bolt on third pulley. One didn't even have power steering.

Ok so I checked and there is 4 holes on the lowest pulley"main". Would I just get the same one that the belt is on now and bolt it on?

See the pic I posted above. You want the one-groove lightweight stamped pulley in the front/bottom, not the two-groove heavy cast one behind it.

attemped fabing my own roll bar lol. did not go as planned and I pulled it off today cause it was pretty hideous haha. might just buy one or come up with a different design, any ideas?
