Log Corral AZ is now officially difficult
Some of us went out to the Log Corral trail yesterday 9/6/08. This was a trail that was going to be hard for my rig to begin with. Turns out the trail has deteriorated significantly since any of the group had been out there. It is now officially a hard trail at least until nature backfills some of the scouring that has occured. Jon and I had to park our IFS rigs after the first obstacle. IIRC Jon negotiated that obstacle under his own power (33's and double locked) I mostly got yanked through it. The rest of the way was difficult even for the SA/dual case/double locked/winch equipped/35 or larger tire guys. Brett got his IFS, double locked, winched, 35 tires through (not sure what his t case set up is) with a combo of great driving and judicious skinny pedal. On to the pics.
first obstacle (which apparently didn't previously exist)

Thanks for posting Mike. The first three pics really show how different vehicles can make an obstacle look large or small.
Depends as to which spot you are referring....
If the deep, muddy rooted section then yes... all pulled line. There were several valiant attempts though.

...And now it's easy again
Bump of an old thread to update the trail condition.
Log Corral is currently pretty easy again. I think most trucks with 31's, good armor and a locker could get through. Maybe, even no locker. It appears to have been heavily maintained and repaired. Lots of filled in spots and trimmed back tree branches.
Didn't take many pics this time. Too busy driving.

A couple more shots:
Down by the lake we were able to play around on some rocks and beach that was 20-30 feet under water the last time. The rock pile looked easy enough from afar, but in fact, was not. The rock was very loose and crumbly but...
The Sonoran Steel buggy triumphs.
The LS1 powered buggy is denied.

Awesome pics. Is this trail near TM or FJ? Just curious. I don't know the AZ trails very well but we might actually make it to AZRocks this year which will prolly be held near Table Mesa again.

Log Corral
33* 47' 51.70" N
111* 29' 32.52" W
Table Mesa
33* 58" 05.64" N
112* 07' 43.60" W
TM is off the interstate 17
LC is off AZ 87
I was going to say there is no direct way from on to the other, but after thinking about it, I think it could be run all dirt, but I think it would be more fun in the LC to TM direction. I'll have to touch base with a buddy as I haven't run the entire route that I'm thinking of and am only working from a map in my head.

You could run LC to TM, however it would require a small bit of highway travel along the Bartlett Lake road.
The river crossing during AZ Rocks time would be passable as well.
Great trip out there today. The dunes at the lake made for a good time.
The river crossing turned out to be a little trickier than previous due to a large tree that had fallen across the river but we managed to ford downstream and head back up without any issues.
